Chris Kanyon is dead at age 40 after he is believed to have committed suicide in his apartment in Sunnyside Queens New York. Reports are stating that he died due to an overdose, and that a pill bottle and several notes were found beside his body, but details of his death have not been fully made available at this time and the particulars are sketchy.
Chris Kanyon was known in the wrestling world as Kanyon or Mortis and he retired from professional wrestling in 2004.
His biggest moments in the business were when he came out as the character Mortis, managed by Jim Mitchell in WCW in the late 90s when WCW tried to capitalize on the Mortal Kombat craze.

In 2006, Chris Kanyon stated that he was let go from professional wrestling by Vince McMahon because he was a homosexual. After, Kanyon stated that it was just a publicity stunt and that he was in fact heterosexual. However, he later admitted that he was homosexual.
He was also part of a lawsuit along with Scott Levy and Michael Sanders to sue the WWE for cheating them out of benefits but their case was dismissed.
Chris Kanyon has also admitted that he suffered from bipolar disorder and according to the Wrestling Observer, he has talked about suicide in the past and threatened it with people close to him. Just earlier this week he was discussing depression and taking his life.
Our condolences go out to Chris Kanyon's family. We will update this post if there is any further information.
