German "Pop Idol" contestant in gay "scandal"

An 18-year-old claims to be the boyfriend of Manuel Hoffmann - but the "DSDS" [Germany's version of "Pop Idol"/"American Idol"] semifinalist calls him a stalker. Now "Bravo" [German teen mag] and "Bild" [German tabloid] have published pictures of the alleged couple.

Already in the middle of March 19-year-old Manuel declared that he had some interest in men, as well - but still retained his image of a heartthrob for girls. That is now being shaken by 18-year-old David from Hanover: the apprentice sent pictures to the media that show him and the RTL singer apparently shirtless and tightly cuddling. In the new issue of "Bravo" he also got the chance to recount his adventure, that supposedly happened 3 weeks ago.

The two are said to have met after Manuel was voted out of the show on March 21st (Manuel was later brought back on after another candidate had been thrown out). "He knew exactly what he wanted", David says. Supposedly the two spent a night with each other. But here David doesn't go into details. "I'm not going to tell how far we went exactly!". Afterwards, the singer is said not to have contacted David again. The latter complained to "Bravo": "I really don't know what the reason is. We didn't have an argument."

Manuel got to respond in the main mouthpiece of DSDS, "Bild". The Hessian describes David as a liar and a stalker: "I offered him and his female friend to spend the night in my room. They pretended that their car had broken down. We slept all three in one bed. Nothing happened at all!", says the 19-year-old. "I'm deeply disappointed that he abuses my trust in that way and publishes pictures like these, and makes claims like these."

According to RTL Manuel sees himself "forced" to take judicial measures against David. The singer is angry with himself because he wanted to help out a fan and is now in this mess, the TV channel reports on its DSDS homepage.

On his own homepage, by the way, Manuel is still dutifully looking for a woman, though without much of a plan: "The woman of my dreams is still on the way somewhere out there, because her navigation system broke down", he is quoted there. If he loses against his rivals Mehrzad and Menowin next Saturday, he will have time to acquire a navigation system of his own.

(Translation by me. Oh well, I guess I was a bit bored.)
